Tour of UPMC Mercy Vision and Rehabilitation Hospital

The Eye & Ear Foundation of Pittsburgh has graciously arranged a SURE tour of the new UPMC Mercy Vision and Rehabilitation Hospital facility located at 1622 Locust Street in Pittsburgh adjacent to Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 1:00 PM. 

The facility received its first patients on May 1, 2023, ushering in a new era of advanced vision care and healing. The 10-story, 410,000-sq.-ft. building in central Pittsburgh is home to the world-renowned UPMC Vision Institute and UPMC Rehabilitation Institute.  Additional information is available by clicking on this link (https://www.hok.com/news/2023-05/upmc-mercy-opens-revolutionary-vision-and-rehabilitation-facility/).

The tour will include a look at both clinical and research/educational spaces as well as special areas of the building such as the collaborative staircase, Wiegand Roof Terrace, rehab garden, low vision apartment. They will also show us the artwork that has been commissioned for the building.  The tour is expected to last 60 to 75 minutes.

Our hosts can accommodate up to 30 people for the tour.  We will be divided into 3 or 4 groups for the tour. There is a fair amount of walking, but the facility is wheelchair and walker accessible should anyone require it. They have informed us that it may be a little difficult for people using walkers if their mobility isn’t good, primarily because there is a fair amount of walking.

There is a parking garage attached to the building with very easy access. There is also valet parking right out front.

Please plan to arrive by 12:45 PM and meet at the main Vision Institute lobby on the first floor. There are concierges at the entry ways that can direct you to the lobby.
